Cookies Policy

This page explains the cookies and similar identifiers used by BusinessDebt.net, what they do, and how to refuse or remove them. It complements (and is referenced by) our privacy policy.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to store. The browser sends the cookie back the next time you visit, which lets the site recognize the same browser. We also discuss browser local storage and pixel-style identifiers in this policy because they perform similar functions.

Categories of cookies we use

1. Strictly necessary

Required for the basic operation of the site — for example, remembering whether the mobile menu is open, or applying a saved theme preference. These are first-party and do not track you across other sites. The site will not function correctly without them. They cannot be turned off through the site, but you can block them in your browser settings; doing so may break navigation.

2. Analytics — Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and measure aggregate engagement. The relevant cookies are typically:

  • _ga — distinguishes unique users; default expiry 24 months
  • _ga_<property-id> — used by GA4 to persist session state; default expiry 24 months

We do not link analytics data to any individual identity, and we do not use Google Analytics for ad personalization. Data retention in our property is configured to 14 months.

3. Advertising — Google AdSense

We display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and identifiers to:

  • Serve and render ads
  • Cap how often you see the same ad
  • Measure ad delivery and effectiveness
  • Detect invalid traffic and fraud
  • Where consent or opt-in applies, personalize ads based on your visit history across this and other sites

Common Google ad cookies include NID, IDE, __gads, __gpi, and others published by Google. The list and expiry schedule are maintained by Google and may change.

How to control cookies

In your browser

Every modern browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies. Look for "Privacy" or "Site settings" in your browser's preferences. You can also browse in private/incognito mode, which discards cookies at the end of the session.

Opt out of personalized Google ads

Industry opt-out tools

Opt out of Google Analytics

Install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on if you want your visits excluded from Google Analytics measurement on every site that uses it.

What happens if you opt out

Opting out of advertising cookies does not stop ads. It stops personalization. You'll still see ads on the site, but they may be less relevant to your interests.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect or process information from children for advertising or analytics.

Changes

If we add, remove, or change cookie categories, we will update this page and the "Last reviewed on" date. The list of cookies set by Google can change without our knowledge; refer to Google's published documentation for the current set.
